NATIONAL EXPLORERS DAY
OCTOBER 13, 2025
“Explorers Day” also aligns with the federally recognized Indigenous Peoples’ Day / Columbus Day holiday – meaning the Federal Reserve will be closed on Monday, October 12th, 2025.
October 13th, 2025 (Annually Observed 2nd Monday of October. Celebrated in conjunction with Indigenous Peoples’ Day and federally recognized, Columbus Day Holidays.)
October 13th is National Explorers Day – the day we honor we honor the many paths that have shaped our shared journey — from the courage of discovery to the wisdom of those who have walked these lands long before us.
It is a celebration of curiosity, adventure, and discovery. This is a day to honor explorers everywhere—those who blaze trails through forests, paddle across rivers, climb new heights, or board planes to see the world. This day reminds us that the spirit of exploration lives within us all, and every journey—big or small—is worth celebrating.
Exploring is more than an activity—it’s a mindset. In a world that often pushes us to rush, routine, and repeat, National Explorers Day invites us to pause, step out, and experience something new. By dedicating a day to exploration, we honor the pioneers of the past, empower today’s adventurers, and inspire future generations to chase what’s beyond the horizon.
It’s not just about where you go—it’s about who you become along the way. Exploring builds courage, connection, creativity, and perspective. That’s why this day needs to be: to remind us that adventure is essential to the human spirit.
Observed annually on the 2nd Monday of October, National Explorers Day is proudly represented by bright orange, the color of bold journeys and visibility on the trail. To join in: Wear your Explorer Shirt (bright orange!) – Whether you’re on a mountain, in the city, or at home planning your next big trip, your shirt shows you’re part of a global community of explorers.
Take your inner explorer on an adventure – Hike, kayak, road trip, travel, or simply discover something new in your own neighborhood.
Share your journey – Post a photo of your adventure wearing your bright orange shirt with the tags #NationalExplorersDay or #NeverStopExploring to inspire others.
Remember the safety spirit behind the color – Bright orange isn’t just bold, it’s practical. Like trail markers in the woods, it reminds us that every explorer should be seen, safe, and ready for whatever adventure awaits.
The best way to celebrate National Explorers Day is to embrace the spirit of adventure – big or small – and step boldly into something new! Whether it’s hiking a local trail, paddling down a river, taking a spontaneous road trip, or simply exploring your own neighborhood with fresh eyes, the heart of the day is about discovery.
We encourage everyone to wear a bright orange “exploring shirt” as a symbol of unity, visibility, and safety – making it easy to be seen on the trail and instantly recognized as part of the explorer community. Share your journey with others, invite friends to join you, and post your adventures online to inspire explorers everywhere.
On this day, no matter where you are, you can celebrate by honoring the explorer within you!
