Services Center Federal Credit Union, known for our commitment and service to our members and community, announces that it has refreshed its brand and will open their doors as Explorers Credit Union today.
Founded in 1962 by the hard-working principles of our founders, we recognize that, as with any industry, credit unions have changed dramatically over the years. Our recent community charter expansion allowed us to offer membership to individuals beyond our original local community base. The name Services Center Federal Credit Union, which worked well for years, no longer accurately depicts and portrays individuals who can join our credit union. To be as inclusive as possible and offer the many benefits of credit union membership to our growing local population, a new name is necessary.
Why Explorers? “Explorers is inspired by the bravery and camaraderie of Lewis and Clark, an important part of our Yankton roots. It’s also a nod to consistent financial direction from a reliable, not-for-profit partner. Afterall, Explorers come in all ages and genders. They are doctors, farmers, manufacturers, teachers and students; they are neighbors, family, friends and you,” stated April Tompkins, Chief Executive Officer. “Explorers stand in line at the store, spill popcorn in the theater, and pay close attention to their finances,” she continued.
Services Center Federal Credit Union, now Explorers Credit Union, exists to support, educate, encourage and inspire our members to reach every financial goal. We believe that fresh teamwork, drive, and daily ingenuity equals financial empowerment for everyone.
Members will soon see exciting new changes in our locations, online and in their wallets. The new tagline, “Discover the Difference” truly encompasses all that this rebrand is looking to convey to current and perspective members.
